Catherine Sloman

Catherine is a cookery and bakery teacher, having trained at various cookery schools, including Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, Ireland, Leith’s and the Cordon Bleu. After teaching bakery and general cookery to private clients, catering for local customers in north London, cooking in restaurant kitchens and writing about food, Catherine began teaching with the team at Bread Ahead in 2019. Catherine also teaches from time to time at Ballymaloe Cookery School.

“I’m passionate about teaching others the joys of baking – seeing those simple ingredients turn into an amazing loaf or a crowd-pleasing cake and giving people the confidence to try it for themselves at home!”

It’s not all about bread – Catherine also loves to teach aspiring cooks to learn to embrace the kitchen. She loves developing new workshops, with a special interest in seasonal food.

Catherine published her cookbook, Kitchen Confidence, in 2019, all about getting beginners started in the kitchen. She also has contributed to other cookery books. Catherine runs a supper club and a regular online food and networking event, The Virtual Kitchen,  and is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, a philanthropic organisation of leading women in the worlds of food, fine beverage and hospitality.c
