Our vouchers are valid for 1 year from their date of purchase.
How do I redeem my gift voucher?
If your gift voucher was purchased after 27 July 2015, you'll be able to use the long 18-digit voucher code (containing both letters and numbers) directly on the website to purchase your course.
If your voucher was purchase before 27 July, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the 4-digit voucher code, details of the course you'd like to attend, and the giver's name.
What should I bring to my workshop?
We provide everything you need on the day including aprons and bags to take your baking home in. All you need to do is show up!
What should I wear to my workshop?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a bit flour-y. In the cooler months the bakery can get a bit chilly, so we also suggest bringing an extra layer with you.
All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes.
What time should I arrive at Bread Ahead for my workshop?
We aim to start all of our courses on time, so we appreciate every effort you make not to be late. Showing up 5-10 minutes before the course starts is ideal and will give you plenty of time to get settled and ready to bake.
What happens if I'm late for my workshop?
Our workshops are packed with as much baking as we can possibly fit into them, so starting on time is crucial. As a result, it is essential you arrive promptly for your workshop.
If you are late, please be aware that the class may have started. Wherever possible, we will allow you to join in, however if you have missed essential parts of the class, this may not be an option. A refund will not be provided in this instance.
Do I need any experience to enrol on any of the courses?
All of our classes are appropriate for both novice home bakers as well as those who are more advanced.
Do I receive a qualification at the end of the course?
No, unfortunately not. Instead, you’ll just be able to make great bread at home!
How long do the courses run for?
Most of our courses are either a half day or a full day, however we do offer one 3-day course (our Guide to Sourdough Bread). Half day courses run for 3 hours and full day courses for 6 ½ hours.
How should I store my bread?
We recommend keeping your bread in a cool dark place (like a bread bin) wrapped in tissue paper or a cloth. Try to avoid the fridge and plastic bags.
Do I receive recipes at the end of my workshop?
Yes, you’ll receive a booklet containing all of the recipes you used during the course which you'll be able to take home with you.
Will I actually be making my own bread/baked goods during the workshops?
Yes, you'll be making all of the items in your course under the guidance of one of our Master Bakers.
How many items can I expect to make in a half day and full day course?
In a half day course you typically make 2-3 items, and in a full day course, you typically make about 5. That said, this does vary, so please refer to the individual course description for the exact number.
Is there an age requirement to attend a workshop?
All minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. In this instance, both the child and the adult will be required to book a place on the course.
We have no strict age limit for a child attending a course with an adult, and instead leave their suitability to the discretion of the adult. That said, if at any point the tutor believes the child is causing a disruption to the class, he will ask both the adult and child to leave.
Do you offer discounted rates (ie. for students or children)?
Unfortunately at this point in time we do not.
Will lunch be included in my workshop?
Lunch is provided in all of our full day workshops and there will always be a vegetarian option available. Unfortunately we are unable to tailor the meal to any dietary requirements beyond this; however, we will be happy to discuss the lunch beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative eating arrangements if necessary. There is no reduction in fee in this instance.
How will my gift voucher be sent to me?
After purchasing a gift voucher, you will receive a voucher code by email. At this time you will also be given the opportunity to download a PDF of a gift voucher (please bear in mind that you will have to manually write your voucher code and expiry date on the gift voucher. Without the voucher code, the recipient will not be able to redeem the gift voucher).
If I discover I can't attend my booked workshop, what are my options?
If it's more than 14 days before the start of your course, we will happily transfer you to another course date, subject to availability, without cost.
You may also request a refund up to 14 days before the start of the course you have booked.
If you wish to reschedule your course within 14 days of the start date, we will accommodate you, however a processing fee of £15 will be charged.
If you wish to cancel your booking within 14 days of your course, you will forfeit your course fees. If we are able to resell your place, we will reimburse you with your course fee minus a processing fee of £15; however, if we are unable to resell your place, you will not be reimbursed.
If a person that is booked on a course fails to attend for any reason, they will not be entitled to a refund or a rebooking of another course.
