What is The Bread Ahead Bake In competition?

We’ve long dreamed of creating a competition that truly celebrates the British home baker. The Bread Ahead Bake In is a nationwide baking competition for home bakers of every level. The successful participants will bake live on zoom under timed conditions to bake their way to being crowned baker of their region. Our 12 regional finalists will then battle it out IN PERSON for the title of Bread Ahead Bake In champ.

How do I enter The Bread Ahead Bake In competition?

Is The Bread Ahead bake in competition suitable for all levels of baker?

Yes! The Bread Ahead bake in competition is suitable for all levels, beginner or sourdough pro, we want to hear from you. This competition is about celebrating Great British bakes and it’s going to be fun!

What will I be expected to bake in the regional rounds?

In the regional rounds, you will be baking your favourite bake from the region you live in for the chance to be crowned the Bake In winner for your region. The bake you make is completely your choice. It should be a bake that you feel represents the place you are from/ live in and that you can confidently bake within 2.5 hours.

Where is The Bread Ahead Bake In hosted?

The Bread Ahead Bake In competition is hosted online via Zoom. So, you will be baking from the comfort of your own home/kitchen.

Does it cost to enter The Bread Ahead Bake In competition?

No, the Bread Ahead Bake In competition is a free baking event. Anyone can enter here for FREE

Do I need to provide my own ingredients to take part in the Bake In competition?

Yes, if you make it through to take part in the regional rounds you will need to provide your own ingredients to make your chosen bake.

Can anyone enter The Bread Ahead Bake In competition?

To enter The Bread Ahead Bake In competition you need to be a UK resident and over 18 years old.

What if I can’t attend my Bake In regional round?

The date of each regional round will appear at the top of the application form for every region. Please check the date and ensure you would be available to compete (on Zoom) on that date before submitting your application (weekday rounds will be hosted in the early evening).

How will The Bread Ahead Bake In be judged?

Each regional round will be hosted on zoom by one of our expert bakers. Regional finalists will be asked to present their bake to the host baker at the end of the timed challenge. Our Bread Ahead Bake In team will review each regional round recording once all 12 rounds have been completed.

When will I find out if I’ve been accepted for The Bread Ahead Bake In?

We will be contacting all participants by email after the closing date on the 31st October 2021 so please check your email to see if you have been accepted.

When will you pick the winners for The Bread Ahead Bake In regional rounds?

The winner of each regional round will be selected once all 12 rounds have been completed. We will contact the finalists once a winner has been selected for each region.

When is The Bread Ahead Bake In final?

The Bread Ahead Bake In final is due to take place in January 2022 in London.
